Most actors who say they are retiring in Hollywood will come back at some point. When it comes to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, however, they meant that when they said they would stop.
The two gained fame when they were put on the ABC sitcom Full House at the age of 6 months. The two girls took turns painting the youngest child in the family, Michelle Tanner. And they used that popularity to launch a successful branding and film career.
That all came to an abrupt halt in early 2012 when they announced their retirement. Olsen’s couple refused to even return for the resume of the show they made famous. This is why Mary-Kate and Ashley would not just sign in Fuller House.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen went from movies to high fashion
After a successful period with direct-to-video films in the late 90s and early 00s introducing To Grandma’s House we go, Double, double, Will and trouble, How the west was fun, and You are invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley, the Olsen couple moved on with their lives. They signed in for cameo shows in other projects and launched several branded product lines. Their business helped the Olsen couple each fortune $ 250 million, each.
Mary-Kate and Ashley eventually moved into the world of high fashion by launching their own clothing line, The Row. It was around this time that the sisters became highly medicated and willing to conduct interviews. First, they didn’t even want customers to know they were the brains behind The Row.
“We sold [the brand] initially without any labels, ”Mary-Kate Wear Women suffered in 2016, according to E Online. “Only a few people knew we were behind it. We didn’t do any press. Our idea – since we had been in the branding business for a long time – was’ If the product is good, it will sell. ‘”
Olsen’s couple is focused and dedicated to the work
Fans can question Mary Kate and Ashley’s neutral dress style and their inconsistent personalities. But no one could accuse Olsen of a lazy couple. The sisters are very hardworking and enthusiastic about the work, which is why they decided not to take part. Fuller House, they said.
Apparently, Ashley reported Fuller House producers who just didn’t want to be in front of a camera again. But Mary-Kate had a more practical excuse for denying the opportunity to relocate. She said there was not enough time.
“We are very organized; every minute is described, ”Mary-Kate told The Edit (via E Online). “We like to be successful with one thing before moving on to the next,” Ashley agreed. “We don’t want to spread ourselves too thin.”
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen also avoid social media
While so many celebrities are shouting connection to fans via Instagram and Twitter, making their fortunes through sponsored posts and personal branding, the Olsen couple has never come into that realm.
“We do not dive into that world [of social media]; we don’t have Instagram or Facebook, ”Ashley told The Edit. “So we were never connected to our customers or our fans that way. We have found shelter. ”
The Olsen couple is definitely leaving money on the table by avoiding participating in reboots and social media posts. However, they prefer a quieter life on the other side of the camera, which is a pity for so many Michelle Tanner fans.
