Last year’s Disney-Fox merger meant we may see a lot of experienced superheroes pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. Disney now owns the film rights to mythical characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
These characters already have their own series of films, but now it looks like they will be introduced to the MCU.
Deadpool is one fan favorite character that can now appear in the MCU. While the “Merc with a Mouth” showing up to fight alongside the Avengers would be a welcome sight for most comic book fans, it probably wouldn’t happen. The answer is why he might take a break with actor Josh Brolin.
Josh Brolin is played in the MCU
In the MCU, Brolin portrayed the most influential and powerful villain of all, the Mad Titan Thanos. While it features in the number of cameo roles in several MCU entries, it is at the heart of focus Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
In these films, Thanos tries to gather all the Infinity stones to give him the ultimate power to do whatever he wants. His goal is to destroy half of life in the known universe. He is initially successful after defeating the Avengers.
In Endgame, the Avengers return to go back in time to collect the Infinity stones and remove the Thanos lump. While they kill him in the current timeline, a previous version of Thanos comes to the fore today and tries to stop them. While the team has to sacrifice Black Widow and Iron Man in the process, they will be able to remove the trap and defeat Thanos over and over again.
Brolin drew rave reviews for his accomplishment. While there have been many great pictures of comic book jokes, not many of them have gone as far above the film franchise as Bros Thanos did. That wasn’t the only comic book character he played, though.
Josh Brolin’s character in Deadpool
In Deadpool 2, Brolin plays the time-traveling antihero Cable. In the film, Cable travels to the past from the future to the youngest version of the man who kills his wife and son. At the time this happens, Deadpool is trying to protect the young boy as he has not yet turned evil. Eventually, Deadpool convinces Cable not to kill the boy and the two end up as something allies.
Cable Brolin is a completely different character from Thanos – while it may sound like a cold heart and stock, it ‘s at the heart of a good man that it ultimately proves.
His spotless, unblemished approach was very different from Ryan Reynolds ’sad version, Deadpool’s fourth wall. The duo made for an exciting team that is likely to return in future films.
Fans on board with this team would return, but it could make things difficult for another comic book movie setting to play out.
Is Josh Brolin the reason Deadpool could stay out of the MCU?
In a Reddit thread talking about Brolin ‘s turn as Thanos, one fan wondered why it would be weird to see Deadpool appear in the MCU:
“It’s weird that he played cable in the xmen * fox universe, but he played thanos in mcu .. especially if they are considering the migration of ryan reynolds as a deadpool into the mcu. at some point all the main actors will play a big part in the mcu. ”
Brolin would play two characters in the same strange, but unique, universe. Mahershala played Ali Cottonmouth in Netflix ‘s Luke Cage series and she also plays Blade. The double throw could provide some funny comments from Deadpool as well – as mentioned above, the character often breaks the fourth wall.
Deadpool even referred to Cable as “Thanos” in Deadpool 2. The Thanos-Cable conflict may keep Deadpool out of the MCU, but if all parties want it to happen, it is unlikely.
