‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’: Are There Hidden Ghosts in Season 2?


Netflix’s Bly Manor Event finally here. Fans of all nine events want to know – are ghosts hidden as they once were? Hill House Event?

[SPOILER ALERT: Some mild spoilers ahead for The Haunting of Bly Manor.]

‘The Haunting of Hill House’ has ‘dozens’ of hidden ghosts

Showrunner Mike Flanagan explained to him Vulture how he hid “dozens of ghosts all over” his adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel. “Seeing in the dark is a constant challenge for us,” he said, continuing:

Gothic horror relies on shadow, but has also been able to see the architecture and use it as a tool in fear. [We] designed a very beautiful scene for our darkness, and the rest was just having fun with the camera frame. We are [hid the ghosts] in clear view, in deep background shots. We don’t pay any attention to them, but they are there.

Fans have had a good time returning to the first season of The drag series, trying to spot each of the hidden ghosts.

The ghosts in ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ are different from the ghosts in ‘The Haunting of Hill House’

A scary story is not complete without ghosts. Bly Manor Event based on Henry James’s horror novel, Turn the screw. So naturally, there are supernatural elements to play. But the ghosts seen in Manor Bly different from the ghosts found there Hill House.

“We were just trying to hide our faces and figures,” said Flanagan Vanity Fair about the ghosts in season 1. “This season, we wanted our hidden elements to tell their own story.” Instead of having fun Easter Eggs for fans to aim , the ghosts of the Manor Bly there are puzzle pieces in the story.

Flanagan chose to approach the ghosts differently this season because of the setting of the story. In Jackson’s novel, “Hill House is said to have this gothic, frightening, shadowy presence,” says Flanagan. But James Bly Manor is “described as being bright, sunny and hospitable and beautiful.” By working the ghosts into the story rather than hiding it in the background, Flanagan ventures into the “great place” of Bly Manor.

“Very much unlikely the first season, [the ghosts are] to be explained, ”said Flanagan. “By the end of the season, you know who they are and why they are there.”

Are there ghosts hidden in ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’?

The hidden ghosts found inside Hill House Event one of Flanagan’s favorite things about the first season.

“Hidden ghosts are one of my favorite things to play with on a set,” said Flanagan. “The audience really enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching people duplicate back and trying to find more. ”

Ironically, there are no hidden ghosts Bly Manor Event. Instead, Flanagan says fans need to find a secret means.

“I really enjoyed that idea [Bly Manor] there was no danger, it would be just like this being more hospitable, more beautiful, so that you don’t walk in and say, ‘This is an attractive house,’ ”Flanagan explained. “[Instead,] the idea is that the world we have has all the answers we get, but it has a hidden meaning and contains hints that would help us to understand it differently, if we would be able to see them. ”
