Law & order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and Younger star Peter Hermann has been married since 2004. Although they seem to have a great relationship, Hargitay says they broke up a few times before they got married. One of their fractures occurred after Thanksgiving Day and the actress says she was “heartbroken.”
Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann connected a conversation about God
Hargitay and Hermann first met on a set of Law & order: SVU in a season 3 program entitled “Monogamy.” Hermann says he was so taken by Hargitay that he entered her dressing room after his scene was over so they could talk. They knew they had something special after their conversation.
“You came into my dressing room,” Hargitay says in the book What makes a marriage last with Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue. “Nobody does that. And then we talked for about three hours about God. That’s where the conversation went. ”
Hermann says he and Hargitay made a deep connection. He was willing to go home when Law & order: SVU the scene was made. “I knew in a hurry that we were dealing with each other, dealing with each other,” he told Donahue and Thomas. “And it was terrible to say I didn’t want to leave at the end of that program. ”
They found that they had different expectations
Hargitay describes their early years as “magic. She also says she was “deceived about” Hermann. However, their relationship became rocky after realizing they had different expectations. They did not look closely at key issues.
“We saw the world differently,” says Hermann. “Eventually, when you marry someone, you open your heart very wide, so I was going with great care, so go ahead. ”
Hargitay still remembers the day she realized their relationship was coming to an end. “I remember it was Thanksgiving Day, and it came to my house,” Hargitay said. “I had all these people – it was beautiful and a lot of work – and he was the first person to leave. I was thinking, Wait, what? Are you in or are you out? I’m inside, but I’m only inside if we’re both inside. I was in love and ready to move on. “
Hermann says he left early because he needed more time to decide on their relationship. They broke down after that and went silent for three months.
Mariska Hargitay talks about her ‘heartbreak’
Hargitay was hurt by the breakup, but eventually things turned around. “My heart was broken,” Hargitay told Thomas and Donahue. “And this is true: On the day I woke up and thought I was okay – that I was over it and that I could continue as I knew it – suddenly I got I have a letter from Peter. It was an incredibly beautiful letter that explained a lot. And then he asked me to go out for Valentine’s Day. ”
