Ever since then Hunt the good will, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been starring in major films. A decade before their Oscar-winning film came out, they struggled with actors like anyone else. Damon says they even got close to a movie that became a cultural touchstone for young men everywhere.
Damon was a guest of Sam Jones’ Off camera podcast on October 8th. This was his second visit to the event and he was the first guest ever to return. Damon told Jones the story of the incident that he and Affleck lost in 1989.

As senior scholars in the ’80s Affleck and Damon were serious about their careers. They saved their money from small jobs to go from Boston to New York for big hearings.
“But having said that, we got some feedback,” Damon said. “So the industry was telling us, ‘Hey, it didn’t work out this time but you’re doing some things right. ‘This business tells you to keep trying, keep plugging away and then you have to be super lucky. ”
