Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen grew up on the set of Full House, but their parents still wanted them to have a normal childhood. While filming movies and living Hollywood life, they still went to school and participated in hobbies. However, there was one thing they did not miss out on. Olsen’s couple decided to skip the main prom for hospitality Saturday Night Live.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen went to ‘regular school’ instead of being taught a set
Dave and Jarnette Olsen wanted Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to experience a normal childhood, so they sent them to Campbell Hall Episcopal School in North Hollywood. Most child actors received a home or tuition on set, but their parents wanted them to experience a normal school.
“I grew up going to school regularly and I still have friends from that time in my life,” said Mary-Kate Elle. “And how cunning and hard-working my life was, my parents knew how important it was to have a normal life too.”
The couple have one older brother, James, and a younger sister, Elizabeth. Their parents separated in 1995, and their father remarried. They also have two half-sisters from their father’s second marriage.
“I was brought up in a big family,” continued Mairi-Ceit. “And although I was always surrounded by many adults [in show business], riding was my big hobby, so I was surrounded by all my riding friends too. I was surrounded by people who cared about me and loved me. ”
Hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ instead of going to the prom was a ‘big decision’ for the Olsen couple
When Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were promoting their film, New York Summary, in 2004, they were given the opportunity to host Saturday Night Live. However, the program was the same night as their high school.
“For us, it was a big decision,” Ashley said Oprah about the offer. “This was our last year.”
“Every girl thinks about designing the oldest dress,” adds Mary-Kate.
They were thinking about it, and Ashley explained that they decided “Saturday Night Live. We figured out that you wouldn’t get that opportunity much. “
Mary-Kate also said they attended other proms during high school and a formal winter. Therefore, they thought it was better to promote their film and guest SNL.
The Olsen Twins went to the prom during their skit ‘Saturday Night Live’
When hosted by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Saturday Night Live, they started the night by telling fans how disappointed they were to miss their high prom.
“We will never know what it’s like to ride a limo and wear fancy dresses and get someone to do their hair,” explained Ashley.
“We do that every day,” said Mairi-Ceit to her sister.
Ashley replied, “Not at Marriott’s.”
So Jimmy Kimmel came out and asked Ashley for a prom. They brought out fancy dress dresses, corsages, and a fancy limo for the couple. The set turned into a high school prom with boys who tried to impress them inappropriately and girl drama. Maya Rudolf showed a high school girl who ended up poking Ashley. The couple decided they preferred to entertain SNL than attending their prom anyway.
