‘Gilmore Girls’: 5 Facts About the Pilot


It’s been 20 years since then Gilmore’s daughters he introduced Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. The pilot was broadcast on October 5, 2000. Two decades later, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are best known for their roles as a fast-talking mother and daughter. 1. Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham had not met before the ‘Gilmore Girls’ pilot was recorded

Graham and Bledel did not know each other before filming began Gilmore’s daughters. They didn’t even run through scenes together to see if they worked well together in front of the camera. The actors met just before they fired the pilot and that’s it.

The Gilmore’s daughters stars in canada met in a hotel lobby. On the way to dinner with Amy Sherman-Palladino, creator Gilmore’s daughters, and her husband, executive producer Dan Palladino met Bledel and Graham.

Graham later said that when he met Bledel for the first time she thought she looked “perfect” for Rory’s role. As for Bledel, her 18-year-old daughter was “dazzled” by Graham.

2. The ‘Gilmore Girls’ pilot was filmed in Canada

Look at the Gilmore’s daughters pilot and note what is around. They look different from the sets in the rest of the series. That’s because the first program was filmed in the Canadian city of Unionville, Ontario.
